5 weeks and counting! It seems like only yesterday when I decided to run my own PR and marketing consultancy. Many people have asked cautiously if I think it’s a good idea to start up in business in this economic climate. Generally, I’d have to agree with their concern. However, my idea of helping north east start ups and small businesses with their publicity, offering payment by the hour rather than expensive monthly retainers, seems to have taken off and I actually have projects coming out of my ears across the UK, not just the region.
I find I’m waking up every morning at 5am, full of energy, waiting to see who has also approached me – so far, I’ve had a promotional chocolate firm, digital media specialists, appliance manufacturers and a debt management agency. So you can see, the case load is extremely varied, which helps to get the creative juices flowing.
Another exciting piece of news (well, to me anyway!) Barclays Bank has asked me to act as its marketing expert in this region, for start ups, which I’m thrilled about.
Now, all I need to do is find a decent website designer, finalise my publicity campaign – and start doing some work!
